Alter of the Kings
The Alter of the Kings created by Jeronimo de Balbas, it is a sculpture in a catholic church in Mexico City, Mexico. It was created by Jeronimo de Balbas, a Spanish artist. This was connected to the Council of Trent, promoting the Catholic Church. This art work was credited completion in 1737, this was about 200 years after the Council of Trent but still is displaying praise of the characters in the catholic church.
The art work does a good job of using lines to draw the views eyes around the artwork being able to see of the talent and elements that went into the creation. It is a very large piece, they used the space very well to put mass amounts of detail but to also be able to organize it in ways like putting god above all others. The color contrast comes as a surprise to me, they have all the gold in the sculptures parts that is bright and reflective and that contrasts strongly with the darker dimmer paintings that are worked into the piece as a whole.
